Below is a question that was asked in one other forum

database partitinong
Can anyone tell something abouth dpt feature in db2.Suppose i have two nodes participitating in dpt, whether i need to create an instance in both nodes or single node? What about database.whether i need to create database in both nodes

The answer to the same is

One instance, one database. DB2 should be installed in both the nodes. all DB2 related userids should exist in both nodes.

If you want a more detailed explanation, please ask here, our experts will be more than happy to explain.

Hi,

Assume that we have two physical partitions on two separate servers.I need to create an instance and database with DPT enabled. As me my knowledge following steps are required.Could you verify it

Install Db2 software on both machines and create instance on both machine.Instance home should be home(Shared drive),including username, password
Fire create database command from instance owning machine.

Am getting confusion that whether we need to create instance on both nodes or in single partition and database create script fire from both nodes.Could you please clarify this
