Microprocessor Circuit Design Engineer

Work as part of Microprocessor Circuit Group that is responsible for full custom circuits of a high performance microprocessor.

Primary job responsibility will be to design one or more full custom blocks (SRAMs, register files, arithmetic units, datapath). This includes micro-architectural definition, circuit specification, schematic entry, layout design, physical, functional, timing and power verifications, design checks, design reviews and documentation. Job responsibilities can also include global design issues (power/ground, skew analysis, electromigration etc) and silicon debug with product engineering.

Desired Profile

The candidate should have at least Bachelors degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering and 7+ years of experience in full custom circuit design like datapath, flip-flops, dynamic circuits, SRAMs, register files, etc. in advance process technologies. Candidates should have exposed to one or more design cycles from architectural specification through production.

In addition, candidates must be proficient in Logic Design and should have hands on experience in Layout Design. Strong verbal and written skills are required. Knowledge of Unix and programming skills are highly desirable. Understanding of Computer Architecture is a plus.

The positions are open at all levels and specific level/role is dependent on candidates ability, interest and project needs. Based on the experience opportunity will be given to mentor junior team members and/or lead tasks.

AMS Verification (AMSCOE)

Experience : 4 to 8 years.
Position : High DE2 or SDE.
Must have relevant experience in :
1) Verification of complex logic blocks in processor, chipset, networking etc. domain.

2) Aware of high level verification flow as well as knowledge of industry standard tools for verification.

3) Must have worked in verification of few multi-million gate projects either at unit , cluster or top level.

4) Working knowledge of other areas like design, synthesis, silicon bringup is a plus.

5) Knowledge of System Verilog is a plus.

6) Knowledge of memory controller (along with domain knowledge of DDR) sub-system is a plus.

7) Knowledge of C++ and scripting languages is a plus.

Verification Engineer

Primary job function is verification of owner area/feature at block or full chip level and meet grade level expectations

Preferred Education and experience:
• B.E/ B.Tech / M.E /M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering

• 2-8 years experience in ASIC Design Verification
• Experience in developing complex test bench/model in Verilog, System
Verilog or system C
• Experience with coverage-based verification methodology
• Experience in writing test plans and test cases
• Excellent debug skills in both functional and gate level simulations are must.
• Experience in random test generation, coverage analysis, failure
debug, formal equivalency checking, and Assertions (PSL, SVA)
• Strong Verilog, PLI interface, System C or C/C++, Perl/shell scripts
or Vera programming skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and document detailed test plans, block and system-level
test benches and reference models

• Develop self-checking, reusable, automated verification environment both at full chip & block level
• Executing verification through directed and random tests for its functionality and interface protocols and tracking bug reports

Compiler QA engineer

Job Description:

Responsible for the testing and quality assurance of tool-chains (compiler, linker, debugger).
Work closely with SW development, performance analysis and technical support teams to validate and test the functionality and performance of the tool-chain.
Job duties:

Work with the development teams to gather testing requirements and define a test plan; responsible for the execution of the test plans
Enhance and maintain test suites: develop test cases to ensure functionality and language conformance of the compilers, write test cases to enhance the performance of the tool-chain; extract test cases from problem reports
Responsible for the installation and maintenance of the test harness on various platforms
Analyze and validate tests results: create daily reports of bug failures, validate bug fixes, follow up with development teams to close problem reports
Responsible for the approval of tool-chain release

Experience:

Bachelor’s with 5+ years experience, Master’s with 3+ years’ experience as a SW QA engineer
Excellent understanding of high level languages: C, C++, Fortran, Java
Excellent understanding of assembly language
Excellent experience with scripting languages (e.g. Perl, python)
Knowledge of Linux and Windows OS
Proven experience using repository systems (e.g. CVS, SVN)

Performance Engineer for Native Code

Job Description: Performance Engineer for the native code compiler team is responsible for analyzing C/C++/Fortran benchmarks to identify the compiler shortcoming in terms of performance. The analysis will involve using various tools to identify the bottlenecks, root cause analysis and quantifying the analysis to confirm the gains obtained. The engineer will use this report to convince and drive the improvements in the compiler. The engineer will have to work closely with other AMD performance analysis teams.

Job Duties: Following are the responsibilities of this Performance Engineer

Should own or co-own responsibility to analyze the given benchmarks
Should be responsible to make the code changes to validate the analyzes and also measure the performance improvements
Should be responsible to generate a formal report on performance issues, analysis and quantified improvement in performance.
Should be responsible to develop a close working relationship with other AMD performance / compiler teams.
Experience:

BS and 7+ years experience, MS and 5+ years’ experience, or PhD and 3+ years’ experience
Basic knowledge of micro-architectural features of modern microprocessors
Understanding of compiler code generation and optimization issues
You need to be comfortable programming/debugging at the Assembly level.
You should enjoy performance analysis and tuning and have experience with profilers.
Compiler development experience is a plus

Program Manager (Software Team)

Preferred Education and Experience:

At least 5 years experience in software/hardware program or project management. BSEE/BSCS or equivalent is required.

Candidates managing system software deliverables such as BIOS, drivers, application tools (Linux/Windows), and diagnostics are highly desired. Any experience program managing system software for a silicon product line is also desired. Also a good understanding of hardware would be useful, with knowledge of microprocessors, chipset and a general anatomy of a computer system.

Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office tools is required.

This position requires a candidate who can follow through and drive issues to closure. A strong attention to detail is required.

Key Job Functions:
